Attila Németh, our Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy ELTE RCH, has participated in the 9th Biennial Conference of the International Association for Presocratic Studies (IAPS). The event is being held at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid from 22–26 June 2026.
The conference has brought together leading international scholars working on Presocratic philosophy and its reception. Organised by the International Association for Presocratic Studies, the biennial meeting has served as one of the principal international forums for research on early Greek philosophy.
Attila Németh delivered a paper entitled Rhythmic Reconfiguration and Compatibilist Agency in Democritus on 22 June. The presentation examined the relationship between rhythm, atomic configuration, and human agency in Democritus' philosophy, contributing to current debates on causation, responsibility, and freedom in ancient Greek thought.
