Department of History of Philosophy and Intellectual History

The department conducts research on various periods of both universal and Hungarian history of philosophy. Within intellectual history, special emphasis is placed on the history of political and religious ideas. The department comprises two permanent research groups.

Department of Epistemology

In addition to exploring classical problems in epistemology, the department engages with contemporary issues in artificial intelligence research, metaphilosophy and the philosophy of communication. Its research also extends to metaphysical and ethical questions that emerge from epistemological inquiry.

Department of History and Philosophy of Science

The department studies the conceptual and philosophical foundations of modern natural sciences, with a special focus on modern physics, and seeks to explore the cultural and social context of the sciences. There are two research groups within the department.
