Philosophy of borders: nations, states and immigration

February 3-4, 2017.

Budapest, Hungary

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the forthcoming conference entitled Philosophy of borders: nations, states and immigration.

Confirmed keynote speaker: David Miller (University of Oxford)

The issues of citizenship, immigration, global justice and the rights and duties of states in relation to citizens and non-citizens are not only the subject of recent public discourse but are permanent topics in normative political philosophy. The conference aims to discuss some of the following issues:

-          the obligations of states to citizens and non-citizens;

-          the normative dilemmas of allocating citizenship rights;

-          the normative legitimacy of bounded nations and states;

-          ethics of immigration.

The conference organizers invite scholars and researchers to submit their proposals discussing these normative issues from a philosophical, historical or interdisciplinary perspective. Submissions from advanced doctoral students are also welcome.

Külföldi megjelenésű folyóirat-különszám

A "Horizons. Studies in Phenomenology" című folyóiratban megjelent a 2015. nyarán Intézetünkben megrendezésre került "Horizons Beyond Borders. Traditions and Perspectives of the Phenomenological Movement" című nagyszabású nemzetközi konferencia (2015. jún. 17-19.) előadásaiból válogatott első különszám. A különszámban többek között Vajda Mihály, az MTA rendes tagjának, George Heffernan, az amerikai Merrimack College professzorának és Inga Römer, a németországi wuppertali egyetem tanárának tanulmányai jelentek meg további kilenc külföldi és egy magyar szerző írásai mellett. A folyóirat mind nyomtatott formában, mind online módon (Open Access elérhetőséggel) jelenik meg, és más adatbázisok mellett a SCOPUS is indexeli. A különszám teljes szövege letölthető a szerkesztőség honlapjáról is a linken. A folyóirat-különszám vendégszerkesztői a konferencia szervezői, Witold Płotka (University of Gdańsk, Lengyelország) és Intézetünk munkatársa, Varga Péter András voltak. Reményeink szerint rövidesen megjelenhet egy másik folyóirat válogatása is a konferencián elhangzott további előadásokból.
